HOW TO WORK OUT ALCOHOL CONTENT

You can check the alcohol content of your beer or wine with a hydrometer. You will need to take a start reading (a reading before fermentation begins) and a final reading once fermentation is complete.

Example:

Start reading = 1075

Final reading = 998

The alcohol (by volume) is

simply the number of

fermented units (start-final)

divided by 7.4.

Alcohol =

(1075-998) / 7.4 = 77 / 7.4 = 10.4 %
